Balance Your Water

A key ingredient to proper spa or hot tub maintenance is balancing your water. When dealing with spa or hot tub water, there are two main adjustments to be made:

Total Alkalinity
pH

Low Total Alkalinity Reading
For a low total alkalinity reading, use SeaKlear Spa Alkalinity Up as follows:

  1. Add 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) to spa water with the circulation on.
  2. Allow water to circulate for 30 minutes.
  3. Retest water and repeat steps one and two until the desired level is reached.

For best results, dissolve granular products first by adding to a small plastic pail filled with water.

High pH Reading
If the pH is above 7.8, lower both the total alkalinity and pH by using SeaKlear Spa pH Reducer as follows:

  1. Turn on the air blower of the filter system.
  2. Retest the water after 30 minutes.
  3. Follow steps one through three until the pH and total alkalinity are in the range of 7.2 to 7.8 and 80 to 140 parts per million (ppm).

Note: Do not add more than 1 ounce at a time. Always wait 30 minutes
between doses and test water before each addition of the product.

Low ph Reading
If the pH is below 7.2, raise it by using SeaKlear Spa pH Increaser as follows:

  1. Turn on the circulation jets.
  2. Add 1 ounce of SeaKlear Spa pH Increaser for every 100 gallons of water.
  3. Retest the water after 30 minutes.
  4. Follow steps one through three until the pH is in the range of 7.2 to 7.8 and the total alkalinity is 80 to 140 ppm.

Note: Always wait 30 minutes between doses and test water before each addition of the product.

Adjust and Stabilize Your pH
You can also easily adjust and stabilize the pH of your spa or hot tub water by using SeaKlear Spa pH Steady* as follows:

  1. Only add SeaKlear Spa pH Steady to freshly filled spa or hot tubs.
  2. When filling or refilling your spa or hot tub, adjust the pH to a range of 7.2 to 7.8 (see Getting Started).
  3. Add the entire contents of SeaKlear Spa pH Steady (quart size) with the filter running. One quart treats up to 500 gallons of spa water.
  4. The product will stabilize pH to the correct range of 7.2 to 7.8.
  5. If the water clouds, run the filter for four hours and treat with SeaKlear Spa Natural Clarifier.

*This product is not recommended for areas of hard water where calcium hardness is over 300 ppm.
